About Almoda Rana Uprety
My name is Almoda Rana Uprety, and I am a Nepalese music composer and playback singer. My journey with music is my life's story, one that began with a deep passion that I was fortunate to discover at the very young age of five.
My path took a significant turn when I was 16, and I earned the title of second runner-up in the national singing competition 'Nepal Star - 2005'. That experience was my springboard into the industry. Wanting to deepen my understanding of the art form I love, I pursued a degree in ethnomusicology from the prestigious SOAS, University of London, in collaboration with Kathmandu University.
I am incredibly proud of the music I've created and the connection it has made with listeners. My song "Funtastic (Pani Paryo)" was a milestone for me—it was honored with the FM Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance and became Nepal's most streamed song of 2016. Tracks like "Kaile Vetne Khai" and my work in films, including 'Kri' for which I received a NEFTA Award, are projects I hold dear to my heart.
My mission is to continue evolving as an artist, blending my academic knowledge with modern sounds to create music that is both meaningful and memorable for my audience.
