About Ankita Pun
Ankita Pun is a soulful indie singer-songwriter and storyteller from Dang, Nepal. With a voice that resonates deeply and lyrics that reflect lived realities, Ankita has quickly emerged as one of Nepal’s most compelling new artists. Her music blends indie, folk-pop, R&B, and soul, layered with themes of identity, love, migration, and womanhood.
Ankita began her musical journey in 2018 by sharing cover songs on YouTube, gaining early recognition after her viral rendition of “Hattaarindai Bataasindai.” Since then, she has evolved into a mature and fearless artist, writing and composing songs that challenge norms and give voice to the unspoken.
In 2023, she released her debut concept album Maili — a critically acclaimed seven-track project that explores stories of Lahure couples, LGBTQ+ relationships, cultural roots, and the emotional complexities of everyday life. Songs like Sakhi, Maili, and Char Din Char Juni have struck a powerful chord with audiences, praised for their honesty and cinematic storytelling. The album was supported by a nationwide and international tour, expanding her growing fan base across Nepal, Darjeeling, and beyond.
Ankita’s artistry is rooted in purpose. Whether performing live, recording in the studio, or directing music videos, she brings a thoughtful and intentional approach to everything she creates. Her visuals and soundscapes celebrate Nepal’s rich cultural diversity, while her lyrics challenge stereotypes and amplify unheard narratives.
Currently based in Butwal, Ankita continues to work independently—writing, composing, and collaborating with like-minded creatives. With millions of YouTube views, thousands of monthly Spotify listeners, and a growing presence on global stages, Ankita represents a new generation of Nepali artists who are not only redefining music, but also reshaping how stories are told.
